Data collection
Epidemiological data is compiled from official public health authority bulletins, peer-reviewed literature and health organization situation reports. Sources are cross-referenced for consistency.
Update frequency
Case data is reviewed weekly. Severity classifications are updated when official reclassifications are published. News items are added as they are released by monitored sources.
Case classification
Only laboratory-confirmed or officially classified cases from national or international health authorities are counted. Suspected or probable cases are not included in confirmed case totals.
Severity classification
Outbreak sites are classified as high (active HPS cases, mortality reported, or active public health alert), medium (confirmed cases, ongoing investigation) or low (sporadic cases, historical monitoring).
